Geriatric Fellowship Faculty

 

 

R. Scott DeLong, MD
Geriatric Fellowship Director
 

Dr. DeLong is the Geriatric Fellowship Director for LG Health Physicians Geriatrics. He received his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 2004. He completed his family medicine residency in 2007, followed by a geriatric fellowship at Lancaster General Health. Dr. DeLong’s subspecialty interests include hospice and palliative medicine, nursing home care, and inpatient geriatric consultations. He also serves as medical director of Mennonite Home in Lancaster, PA, where he provides services to both skilled care and long-term care residents.
 


Matthew Beelen, MD
 

Dr. Beelen graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his family medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital in 2002. He completed faculty development fellowships at Lancaster General Health and Michigan State University. Dr. Beelen completed a geriatric fellowship in 2005 and has a Certificate of Additional Qualifications in Geriatrics. He is past director of the Geriatric Fellowship Program. He serves as the geriatric liaison to the Lancaster General Hospital Trauma Department, and is the medical director for the LG Health Alzheimer’s and Memory Care Program. His clinical and academic interests include: comprehensive geriatric assessment, inpatient geriatric consultation, geriatric trauma, dementia, delirium, and geriatric curriculum development.
 


Robert M. Howse Jr., MD, CMD 
 

Dr. Howse graduated from University of Maryland Medical School and the Lancaster General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. He is board certified in Family Medicine, has a Certificate of Additional Qualifications in Geriatrics and is a Certified Medical Director in Long Term Care. His areas of interest are capacity evaluation, medical direction and medical education. He currently is a medical consultant for the Lancaster County Office of Aging, providing formal capacity evaluations for elderly individuals. He is the Assistant Director of the Geriatric Fellowship Program and also serves as the medical director and fellow preceptor at Moravian Manor Retirement Community in Lititz, PA.
 


Laura K. Moyer, MD
 

Laura K. Moyer, MD, received her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia in 2009. In 2010, Dr. Moyer completed a Geriatrics Fellowship at the University of Virginia and is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics. She provides care in the outpatient setting. She enjoys providing comprehensive geriatric care tailored to each individual.
 


Maria Vasiliadis, DO 
 

Dr. Vasiliadis received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr, PA, and a geriatric fellowship at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. She has her Certificate of Additional Qualifications in Geriatrics. Dr. Vasiliadis has more than ten years’ experience in Geriatric Medicine. She is involved in outpatient care, nursing home care, and serves in a consultant role on the inpatient Geriatric Consult Service at Lancaster General Health.
 


Dale K. Hursh, MD, CMD 


Dr. Hursh received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia in 1989. He finished his family medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital in 1992, and practiced primary care medicine in Lancaster County until 2001. Dr. Hursh then completed a geriatric fellowship at Lancaster General Health in 2002, and has his Certificate of Additional Qualifications in Geriatrics. He is also a certified medical director. Dr. Hursh’s clinical interests include geriatric long-term care medicine, medical direction in long-term care, and medical education. He currently serves as the Medical Director for Landis Homes Retirement Community in Lititz, PA.
 


Leon Kraybill, MD


Dr. Kraybill received his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine and is board certified in family medicine. He completed his family medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital in 1988. In 2004, after 15 years of family practice, Dr. Kraybill completed his geriatric fellowship at LG Health and now holds a Certificate of Additional Qualifications in Geriatrics. He is the Medical Director at Luther Acres in Lititz. Dr. Kraybill received a 2004 Quality Initiative Award from the American Medical Directors Association for research in geriatrics. He is the Chair of the Lancaster General Hospital Division of Geriatrics.
 


Neelofer Sohail, MD


Dr. Sohail received her medical degree at the Karnataka-Sri Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences in Karnataka, India. She completed her residency in family medicine at Conemaugh Medical Center, Johnstown, PA, practicing as chief resident. Dr. Sohail worked for one year in a local private practice, and completed her geriatric fellowship at LG Health in 2006. She is board certified in family medicine and has her Certificate of Additional Qualifications in Geriatrics. She serves as Medical Director of Conestoga View Nursing Home in Lancaster. She is actively involved in the Pennsylvania Medical Directors Association (PMDA) and in several inpatient initiatives at LG Health such as Transitions of Care, POLST, and the Inpatient Geriatric Consultation Service. Dr. Sohail loves to work with the older patient population and their families with various medical and social issues.
 


Amy Hancock, MD
 

Dr. Hancock received her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA. She completed a family medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital in 2011, and a geriatric fellowship in 2012. Dr. Hancock participates in the Inpatient Geriatric Consult Service. She also provides geriatric primary care in nursing home settings
