from Our Fellowship Director
Thank you for your interest in the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital (LGH).
We are excited that you have chosen to look more closely at what our program has to offer. The need for trained geriatricians is increasing rapidly as our population ages. The combination of a diverse and growing geriatric population in Lancaster County and the high-quality health-care services provided at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health make LGH an ideal place for you to develop excellent geriatric skills in a variety of settings.
The mission of our fellowship program is to prepare learners to provide excellent care to the elderly in a variety of settings. Our graduates serve in various roles in their communities, some as part of a broad-spectrum primary care practice and some as a specialist, focused on care of the elderly. Graduates of our program are involved in education, advocacy, administration, leadership and clinical roles.
Each of our faculty is passionate about serving the elderly and that permeates into all facets of your training. We are excited to inspire and share that passion with you throughout your fellowship year. In addition to developing strong geriatric clinical skills, you will develop skills in teaching, application of evidence-based medicine to geriatric care, medical direction and administration, community education, and leadership.
Fellows work in a variety of settings, including our inpatient consultative services, outpatient continuity clinic, outpatient consultative clinic, home care program, assisted living and skilled care communities, hospice and palliative care services, and community health services. Fellows have the opportunity to interact with and teach residents through Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health's highly regarded Family Medicine Residency Program.
We are seeking family medicine or internal medicine trained residents and physicians who share our commitment to service, and our passion for caring for and improving the health care of the geriatric population. We look forward to sharing the personal and professional satisfaction that comes from caring for the elderly.
