A MESSAGE FROM OUR SPORTS MEDICINE DIRECTOR

Geoffrey Dreher, DO, program director, describes our program.

A welcome message
from our Fellowship Director

Thank you for your interest in the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital (LGH).

We are proud to offer a comprehensive and community driven primary care sports medicine fellowship, affiliated with one of the nation’s most respected family medicine programs. Located in Lancaster, PA, our fellowship provides opportunities for advanced training in sports medicine, musculoskeletal care, research, medical education and ultrasound-guided procedures, all while working in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Our mission is to improve the health and wellness of surrounding communities by developing well-rounded sports medicine leaders who deliver compassionate and socially responsible healthcare. Our fellowship program is designed to provide a balanced experience that blends high-level clinical practice with a deep commitment to serving the local community.

Fellows will be integrated within our innovative sports medicine department where they will practice team-based care with athletic trainers, orthopedic surgeons, and physical therapists.  There are weekly longitudinal experiences in sports medicine, collegiate student health and wellness, didactics, research/academics and as a team physician.

Each fellow will have the opportunity to work with athletes at high school, collegiate, and professional levels.  In each setting, fellows provide pre-participation physical exams, sideline coverage, injury prevention and treatments. This includes experience with high school athletes, NCAA Division I wrestling, Division II at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), Division III programs, and professional baseball.

Whether you are looking to refine your clinical skills, expand your procedural expertise, or engage with athletes in a community-based setting, our fellowship will equip you to lead in any sports medicine environment.  We invite you to reach out and learn more.
